EPIA-P720 is the shit!

Finally! This is what I have been looking for: “The fanless VIA EPIA-P720 Pico-ITX provides superb hardware acceleration for HD media over native HDMI at resolutions of up to 1080p”. Now I just need to find a reseller or should I wait to the new VIA Nano 3000 64-bit CPU? :)

RSS in Firefox is/was broken!

I reasently got information that the RSS feed did not work in Firefox and some other RSS readers. This is a common problem for readers who can not handle “BOM byte” the right way, (creds to Safari).Ā  The hard part for many is to find the “broken” files. Then i reccomend using a Mac or some other UNIX system and read the manuals for grep, find and xargs and execute “set nobomb” in vi or vim.

In this case it was my wp-config.php file that was broken because I quickly had edited it on a Windos computer in notepad when I rotated the password.

PS. Thanks for the report Jimmie!

MythTV iPhone remote

One big thing with a HTPC is the remote! I will use my iPhone or maby my Harmony 525 but then I have to install an IR receiver :(

For the iPhone two apps have been developed so far, RR gh and MyMote. I have not been able to test them yet but it looks promising.

coreboot (formerly known as LinuxBIOS)

Guess this is only news to me but it has not been in my interest before. For a HTPC it is important that the boot up time is as short as possible. The coreboot has a benchmark of 3 seconds to terminal.

VIA Updates

It is not every day VIA releases new products. The 27 of June 2008 VIA released a new Pico-ITX board called EPIA-P700. Only thing that is missing for my project is that it do not support HDTV. It is also possible to read that new Mini-ITX v2.0 boards will be released in the fourth quarter of 2008.
