VIA do not provide drivers to end users

I now have spoken to VIA Embedded on Facebook, asking about new drivers that support HD playback on the P820 board and the answed I got was:

VIA Embedded yes, we do but we don’t provide chipset driver directly to end users. If you are our customer, please contact with our sales representatives.
On my other question if I was supposed to buy the driver from them to get it to work I got the answer:
You many go to this web site, http://linux.via.com.tw/support/downloadFiles.action
We don’t wanna release it since there are so many Linux version and it’s not quite easy for us to maintain.
With this information I would never ever have bought the moder board from them. This is also discussed at VIAArena. I really hope sone drivers will be released or else I will have to see how good the P820 blends.

RSS in Firefox is/was broken!

I reasently got information that the RSS feed did not work in Firefox and some other RSS readers. This is a common problem for readers who can not handle “BOM byte” the right way, (creds to Safari).Ā  The hard part for many is to find the “broken” files. Then i reccomend using a Mac or some other UNIX system and read the manuals for grep, find and xargs and execute “set nobomb” in vi or vim.

In this case it was my wp-config.php file that was broken because I quickly had edited it on a Windos computer in notepad when I rotated the password.

PS. Thanks for the report Jimmie!

Back from vacation

The vacation with my girlfriend was the best ever! As for this I am thinking of a Mini-ITX 2.0 bord since they support Full HDTV. One Idea is also to wait for the new Nano-ITX, but it is not fun to wait :/

Today Google told me that there was some other interesting Retro Mods worth checking out. Why not build your own case in Lego?

Full of excitement

My main goal with this homepage is to keep me working on my current project, a Media Center within a Nintendo Entertainment System. And of course get some ideas from the readers? ;)

The idea is to use a VIA Pico, Nano or Mini ITX mainboard and make a nice Media Center. As a remote I will convert the standard Nintendo controller into a usb mouse. Also it is important that the system has a low power consumption.

From what Google have told me about this I am quite alone with this HTPC (Home Theatre PC) project. This is the only ones I have found so far:
